Troop 267 Patch Placement Guide

Note:  You can buy Uniform shirts form the Scout shop with some of the basic patches already sewn on (for a fee).  For the other patches, if you don’t want to sew them yourself, you can purchase “Patch Magic” but be sure to ASK THE SALES PERSON AT THE SCOUT SHOP FOR TIPS ON HOW TO USE IT.  A local dry cleaner will sew patches for you, and Robert’s Dept. Store in Mineola (516) 746-7234 will also do this for $3.00 per patch.  We have a "Troop Seamstress:" Mindy Disilas, who lives in Mineola, and will sew all the patches for $10 per uniform (cash only).  Her address is: 100 Westbury Avenue, in Mineola. Her phone number is: 516-410-2303.

Note:  there is a patch placement guide on page 22 of the Scout Handbook, or you can find one here: https://www.seqbsa.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/troop-uniform-sheet.pdf  You can also find a basic diagram at the bottom of this page.

The information below on patch placement has been taken from the Scout Publication “Insignia Guide” (No. 33066B.)

1)      Council Shoulder Patch (“CSP”) “Theodore Roosevelt Council” (yellow background):  this patch is purchased by each scout.  It is sewn on the LEFT sleeve, just below the shoulder seam.

2)      Unit Numerals (267): this patch is provided by the troop.  It is sewn just below, but not touching the CSP.

3) World Crest: (purple and white circle): this patch purchased by each scout.  It is sewn so that it is centered horizontally above the LEFT pocket, and centered vertically between the LEFT shoulder seam and the top of the pocket.

4)      1910 World Crest Ring:  this patch is purchased by each scout.  It is sewn so that it fits around the World Crest patch.

5)      Patrol Emblem (tan circle): this patch is provided by the troop.  It is sewn about ¼” below the American Flag (which comes pre-sewn on the RIGHT sleeve of a new uniform).  If you buy your new uniform before your son is assigned to a patrol, save exactly 2” for it.

6)      Journey to Excellence patch (rectangle): this patch is provided by the troop.  It is sewn on the RIGHT sleeve, about ¼” below the Patrol emblem.  Note: Troop 267 uses short sleeve shirts, and there may not be room for this patch depending on your scout’s shirt size.  If there is no room, do not affix this patch.

7)      Rank Patches: (when earned) are provided by the troop.  They are sewn to be centered on the LEFT pocket, below the button or flap (depending on the shirt).  Be sure not to sew the pocket closed.

8)      Arrow of Light: (for those boys that earned it) this patch is provided by the Pack and is the ONLY Cub Scout-earned badge worn on the Scout uniform.  It is sewn to be centered and IMMEDIATELY below the left pocket, on the shirt itself.
