Where to buy your equipment:

The staff is very patient, and is well-skilled in properly fitting first-time scouts. It's the only brick-and-mortar location where your son can actually be fitted for Official BSA equipment.

 

ScoutStuff.org.  Everything available at the Scout Shop is available online.  SKUs are provided below to help you order. Free shipping is available for most orders exceeding $125.

No official BSA Equipment.  Less selection than REI. Best for generic items (i.e. flashlights). Very good to fill-in broken or missing equipment the night before a camping trip.  Open until 9:30 PM.

Equipment Shopping List
 

NOTE: Equipment need not be new.  Previously used equipment is OK, but must be the proper fit and quality.

  • Compass (must be orienteering style)
    Recommend: Silva Polaris Compass (SKU 1070) with pouch (SKU 641267)

     

  • Knife*
    Recommend: BSA deluxe packet knife (SKU 615782) with pouch (SLU 641266
    OR Swiss Army "Summit" (SKU 621539) - no pouch needed
    * Any knife which is not official BSA issue must be "lockback" style only.
       No sheath knives until age 16.  No switchblades EVER!

     

  • Personal Mess Kit w/ plastic cup (need not be Official Scout issue)
    BSA Aluminum Mess Kit (SKU 24026) or similar

     

  • Knife/Fork/Spoon (need not be Official Scout issue)
    GSI 3-piece ring cutlery set (SKU 617891) or similar

     

  • Water Bottle (need not be Official Scout issue)
    Recommend: Camelbak BSA logo Chute 75L bottle (SKU 622892) or similar

     

  • Flashlight (need not be Official Scout issue) should be lightweight
     

  • Sleeping Bag (need not be Official Scout issue)
    0° mummy-style bag is best for cold
    Recommend: Eureka! Wild Basin 0° sleeping bag  (SKU 615456)

     

  • Foam Pad or “Thermarest” type inflatable pad
     

  • Back Pack (need not be Official Scout issue)
    Recommend: BSA Mountaineer 70L Backpack (SKU 613893)

     

  • Hiking Boots (should broken-in before wearing them on a camping trip)
